Clio visits Ethan

Clio and Ethan love visiting each other!
watching the world go by...

Snakes and Tortoises

This is one of Richard's Hognose Snakes. They look a lot like a rattler and put on quite a show when you open their enclosure. They are all talk and no action though (and harmless)
Franklin and Onyx

I think someone may be a little camera shy ;-)

The Dogs

Clio's new collar/leash made by Roberta!
A two headed whippet?

All the dogs in one picture!

Captain Butler - Rhett

Rhett is the newest member of our family. He is my 40th birthday present. He is a 3 year old, Tennessee Walker Horse!
These were taken the day we brought him from Uxbridge to Midhurst, isn't he handsome!

We were delayed in picking Rhett up that day and by the time we got home it was dark out. He was being turned out with an older horse named TJ but I had no idea what they would think of each other or whether they'd get along. I put him in the pen, they sniffed each other and then decided to go share a bale of hay. They get along great and have since the first minute they met! So I didn't need to worry too much!

This is Shrek, one of our corn snakes. He's a little shy and this is one of the first pics I've taken of him in his enclosure.

Ain't he cute??

Kaeleb's New Snake

Here is hatch#2, Kaeleb has named it Thomas
If you look in the picture below, the bottom egg in the group of three, bottom left corner you can see yet another head peeking out!

Labels:

Here are our two babies, Daelin's is completely out of his egg, in the top left corner of the little container. Kaeleb's is peeking out of the egg in the middle of the container. We aren't sure if any of the other eggs are hatching as they are buried and we can't see them. When Kaeleb's baby comes completely out of his egg we'll have a better idea if there are more.
There is Kaeleb's little baby that he wants to name Thomas.
Here is Richard removing Daelin's snake from the incubator.

Labels:

Here is the first of our hatches. Pretty amazing to think he came out of that tiny egg! Daelin would like to name him lucky as he has a lucky spot on his head. In Borzoi it is called "the kiss of the czar"
Here he is in his new home.

Shadow's Baby

The Hillview Zoo is very proud to announce our first hatchling California King Snake! It may take a couple days for the baby to fully emerge from its egg and then we'll post some more pics. We are all very excited! In fact Richard's hands were shaking after he checked the egg box :-) It took 62 days from laying to hatching that's a long wait but well worth it. We may end up with more than one but we aren't counting our snake babies before they hatch!
Daelin will be keeping this one!
